Today was a busy day for me. I had my engagement shoot (!!) so I spent a great deal of time yesterday preparing for it. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I may not get a post out every day, and I apologize in advance for that. I will do my best.
That said, ONWARD!

We’ve already established how much I love Rhode Island, Leather, Fur, and all things romantic. Let me introduce you to another love of mine.
My Car.
I’m currently driving an MK-4 (2001) Volkswagen Jetta VR6 (manual transmission, naturally) and boy am I pretentious about it. I can’t even hide the fact that I think Volkswagens are the best cars. I won’t sugar coat it, and I won’t deny that I may be wrong, but man. I just love them.
Don’t get me wrong, my knees go weak for Nissan and Infiniti too (and have you SEEN the new Elantra and Sonata? Good job Hyundai!) but still, My VW trumps them all and once I’m finished customizing it, you’ll be droppin’ trou for it too.
So naturally, I need this:
A belt. Made from vintage Volkswagen seats. Not only is it upcycling something that would probably otherwise go to waste, it is done so with killer style. Couchguitarstraps also offers guitar straps (duh) and I’m pretty certain I’ll be shoving one of those Adam’s way at one point or another.
Point is: you love VW. You know it. Buy this belt. (Don’t worry; if you have love for Mercedes or Cadillac, he’s got you covered too.)

Next is something that took me happily by surprise.
I have to say that I wasn’t expecting to come across MurrysPottery and I was even more surprised when I fell in love with just about everything in the shop.
Normally I don’t care much for pottery because I had a rather poor experience with my ceramics class in college (again, a talent I don’t have, even though I really wanted to) and also because most of the pottery I come across is all the same types of colours and most likely to go along with a country themed home and if there’s something you need to know about my tastes in decor, they are in no way country.
So when I was browsing through the ceramics section on Etsy and I came across this striking piece, I knew I had to feature it. Firstly, and most obviously, for the colour. Very rarely do I ever see a hand made peice of pottery with such a vibrant colour (I’m sorry, but I’m bored to tears of that teal.).
Secondly, when I look at it, I see that it isn’t actually that bright and vibrant on its own, which is marvelous. If you look at all the lines that the glaze makes, none of them are actually bright purple, rather they are various lavenders, lilacs, and blues, but at first glance all the eye sees is a brilliant shade of purple!
Thirdly, it is a berry bowl, and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who sees how appropriate this is. Don’t those swirls of lavenders, lilacs, and blues remind you of something? A can maybe, of super tiny, yet still super sweet, almost artificial blueberries. Ever pour that can into some cake-like batter? Swirl it around and delight in the beautiful array of blues, lilacs, and lavenders that it produced?
All, of course before it went into the oven to turn into a delicious Saturday morning treat.

Lastly, another ETK member! Prepare to get hungry.
When BuzzPlanet proposed the idea of making lip balm, all of us at ETK jumped up and said YES! YES! YES! And because I am a sucker for chocolate and cosmetics, I immediately purchased a tube. Unfortunately for me, I ordered it two days before I went on vacation so when it arrived at my house, I had to wait about a week to actually have it.
It was worth the wait.
Oh Lordy if this isn’t the smoothest, scentyist, most moisturizing-without-feeling-greasy lip balm I’ve ever owned! I can’t sing BuzzPlanet’s praises enough. I will be stuffing some stockings this Christmas. Yes I will.
