Good morning and welcome to the not-so-flashy grand opening of French Onion Finds! If you’re new here and haven’t made your way over to the ‘about’ section, allow me to explain what this is all about:
I am here to promote and get you excited about the art of handmade, featuring items and artists from Etsy. It’s as simple as that. There will be commentary, naturally, but mostly just pictures because really, that’s where all the fun is.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy.

My first feature is a photograph. I envy photographers because they can capture so much emotion in one single image. They can still the moving and give life to the still. It’s amazing.
This particular images speaks volumes to me. Not that I’m any form of art critic (though I do have half a degree in sculpture) and I don’t pretend to gather feeling from everything I see, this photo in particular evokes many different thoughts and memories for me.
Does anyone else remember the anticipation of those elementary art classes? Squirming in your seat looking at the opened bottles just dying to smear it all over a paper plate? Waiting for your teacher to give the okay.
The colors edited to a vintage feel remind me that those days are long gone for me, but the paints still stand there bright and proud just waiting for my own child to reach the school age so he can enjoy them as much as I did.
Great work, MommyMakes.

The second feature for my opening post is keeping along with the art theme. It is a graphite drawing from GraphiteGirls.
There are several reasons I love this drawing. The first being that like photographers, I envy those who can create beautiful drawings. I don’t mean people who can take a pencil and draw an exact replica of anything they see. I want expression, emotion, a well balanced, yet surprising composition. I don’t have that talent–I work in the third dimension.
Secondly, I love the human back. I love the spine, and I love the muscles that make up a person’s backside. I truly believe it is the most beautiful part of the body (so long as it is in shape) and I melt over anything that showcases it. The casual, yet poised pose of the model adds an air of class and curiosity with a hint of sensuality. I feel that many artists now are using sensuality to grasp the viewers attention and then creating around that very profound emotion.
I do not know what the artists intention was here but I can say that I am happy that I can’t tell for sure because there is that much going on in such a simple stance. Very beautiful.

Lastly, it needs to be said in the beginning, because I will probably mention it way more than you’d like, I love my state. I live in (the state of) Rhode Island (and Providence Plantations) The smallest state with the longest name and packed to the brim with a variety of cities, towns, bodies of water, cultures, and anything else you could possibly think of.
That said, I do wish I could fall asleep with this:
Lovecalifornia sure had the right idea (and it seems there’s some state love right there) making these squishy states! The heart can be placed anywhere (even my village!) to show love not only for your state, but any specific area in it! Each state pillow is offered in a variety of colours as well!
If anyone would like to purchase one for my birthday or Christmas, I would gladly accept it. North Scituate, and light grey please
