Today’s finds are all about pirates. Deck swabbin’, plunderin’, bone chewin’, treasure huntin’ scallywags. I really love pirates because in a culture that is so focuses on beauty, pirates are the figures that have always been there saying, “I’m dirty, I’m ugly. I’ve got no teeth, but you’re going to love me anyway.” Though modern day pirates are definite real and very scary, like many other things, I enjoy the historical image; the glorious carefree, vice-ridden gold diggers with lots of layers and totally rockin’ boots. Those that had shoes, of course.

What I like most about this ring is that not only is it subtle, and (from the looks of it) unisex, but it is timeless. JenniferWood has created a piece that I would more than happily wear, my fiance would wear, and I can also very well picture it on the pirates of old.
I love the simplicity of this piece. The skull and crossbones in itself makes such a statement and is elaborate enough that placing it with much else can oftentimes take away from the impact that it is intended to make. Having such a light metal band with a bold symbol in contrast is fabulous.

I think that these are great! If I had a beach house, I would theme it around octopoti (y’all know how I feel about my octopoti) with hints of pirates. I think that having doubloons that actually look old, ancient, and authentic is a really nice touch. Party supply stores might offer them, but they’re cheap plastic and usually round and tacky looking. JewelersParadise really hit it right with this product and that makes me really want a beach house now.

I can’t help but love this piece. Bobdix personifies the pirate in a really unique way here. Generally what we’ve been seeing is ‘sexy femme pirate’, ‘sexy pirate’ or ‘super cute chibi pirate’ While all of those are great too, showing the simple and dirty pirate is really refreshing.
This guy isn’t looking for love on the high seas. He’s got no teeth, a peg leg, and a straggly beard. But you know what? He’s so happy. X marks the spot and, bathing in his treasure, he’s happy because he’s done what he set out to do.
I also love the movement of this piece. The sprinkling of the coins, the swinging of the beads and our pirate friend’s arms thrown out in monetary joy. The small detail of the parrots wings spread and his leg slightly lifted as if he lost his balance in surprise is particularly exciting.
What a great piece.
