Hung out to Dry

9 Aug

Because the weather outside has settled itself into a terribly average, frighteningly even, medium weight rainfall, I figured the finds tonight had to be something fun and sunny. So tonight, I’m talking laundry. Not the sit at home all day switching loads every hour to The Young and the Restless laundry, but the relaxing in the summer sun, hanging on the line, lemonade sipping old fashioned laundry time.

Clothespins, Set of 10 Rainbow Colored, Hand Dyed by PigCastle

Now, if we are going to do laundry the old fashioned way, and hang up our unmentionables for everyone in the neighborhood to see, we should at least make sure they are hanging in style. Luckily, PigCastle offers these very fun, very chic hand dyed clothespins for just that! Everyone will be so impressed with your rainbows and gradients on your clothesline, they won’t even notice your teddy bear panties!

Of course, colorful clothespins have an array of uses, though laundry rainbows is probably my favourite. Just picture them against white sheets. (especially if you have a nice white farmhouse as a backdrop!) Ah, lovely!

Wash Day Apron with Clothespins by DollClothesbyJannie

I have to say I am greatly impressed by a lot of the doll clothes and accessories I see on Etsy. I was never into dolls myself, so I don’t look through them often, but man. Dolls pretty much have everything we have– and more!  DollClothesbyJannie has this little dolly doing laundry– and she’s got it right! This little sweetie has everything a big person would need. Amazing!

Now if only I could get this doll to do my laundry too.

Wooden Outdoor Folding Chair for Garden, Deck and Patio - recycled cedar (Beach Blue) by laughingcreekprod

After all that washing, hanging and folding, we’re going to want to sit down, enjoy a glass of lemonade, and soak up the sun. These awesome chairs from laughingcreekprod are exactly what I would want on my lawn on a day like that. They are so simple, so classic, and so fun. The subtle curve in the seat in the back definitely give off an aura of comfort and the fact that they fold for easy storage/season change is awesome.

So sit back and look at your white sheets against your laundry rainbow and remember: Lemonade is delicious.

You mean I can’t eat it?

Good evening! Today’s finds are all about inedible edibles. Food themed items that look so real, you might just be tempted to take a bite anyway. Enjoy!

the Mint Macaroon With Chocolate Purse Hanger by GuiltyFreeCandy

GuiltyFreeCandy‘s username says it all. This guilt-free candy has my mouth watering already. Mint and chocolate is one of my favourite dessert combinations and I really can’t say no to anything with whipped cream on it.

Not only is this totally a no-strings-attached sweet, but it is also a purse hanger. Who said treats were bad for you? They keep your handbag off the floor! I’ve never used one of these myself because I normally just toss my bag with little thought onto the floor beside my chair, but this little morsel has got me reconsidering.

Quarter Pounder with Cheese Earrings (dangly style) by mousemarket

I’ve mentioned before how impressed I am by people who can work on small scales, but this takes the cake. Or rather, the burger.

These earrings are not only super cute (because mostly anything tiny tiny is) but just look at mousemarket‘s attention to detail. I can see the water from the tomato! IN CLAY! Ah, it warms my heart to see passion evident in an artists work.

I also really want a burger now.

Felt Food Refrigerated Set Gallon of Milk, Butter, and Eggs by TheFeltedPear

I love little kids’ toys, especially the play food. There’s something special about  seeing how much you can stack in between a two pieces of bread without wasting food. Extra points if you can take a pretend bite without the eggs shooting out the front!

TheFeltedPear brings to us felt food, which I think is a great alternative to the traditional plastic play foods. They are softer (which is great for me since my little boy loves to bang things against my head) and won’t crack. Not to mention felt food is so much cuter than plastic anyway!
